  • RECOMMENDATION:

    That the agenda for the regular meeting of Council scheduled for November 18, 2024, BE ADOPTED.

  • RECOMMENDATION:

    That the minutes of the regular Council meeting held November 4, 2024, BE ADOPTED as read on this day and that such minutes as read set out all of the business before Council at that meeting and fully and properly record all of the resolutions passed by Council at that meeting.

  • RECOMMENDATION:

    That Council RECEIVES FOR INFORMATION, the report dated October 25, 2024 from the Director of Finance and IT Services titled “2024 Financial Report on Significant Capital Projects”.

  • RECOMMENDATION:

    That Council RECEIVES FOR INFORMATION the report dated November 4, 2024, from the Director of Planning and Development, titled “Monthly Building Permit and Development Permit Summary (October 2024)”.

COUNCILLOR KYLE SAMPSON SUPPORTED BY COUNCILLOR TIM BENNETT AND COUNCILLOR CORI RAMSAY
  • RECOMMENDATION #1:

    That Council DIRECTS Administration to establish a Select Committee, composed of 4 members of Council and 3 external members from the public, with the mandate to develop a framework and plan for an annual City of Prince George citizen recognition program. Administration is to provide a draft term of reference, and the committee will present a report to Council by the end of Q3 2025, aiming to launch the program for the 2026 cycle. The program will honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the community in areas such as, but not limited to, arts, sports, volunteerism, philanthropy, social services, or heroism. City employees and Council members would be excluded from eligibility.

  • RECOMMENDATION #2:

    That Council DIRECTS Administration to review and enhance the existing employee Service Recognition Awards program to further recognize City employees for their long service and dedication to our community, and report back to Council with the results of that review.

  • RECOMMENDATION:

    That Council APPROVES up to $1,750 from Council Contingency to help support Spirt of North Healthcare Foundation to cover costs payable to the City of Prince George for the 2024 Santa Claus Parade.

Correspondence dated November 13, 2024 from Jarnank Manhas, Mohinder Manhas, Ram Manhas, and Sudershan Manhas: Written Response for 1105 Vancouver Street regarding notice of city council consideration of a written order for nuisance abatement and cost of recovery at the subject property – 1105 Vancouver Street, Prince George, BC

  • RECOMMENDATION:
    1. That, pursuant to section 3.2(a) of "City of Prince George Nuisance Abatement Bylaw 8940, 2018", Council DIRECTS, by way of written ORDER, that Jarnanak Singh Manhas, Mohinder Kaur Manhas, Ram Singh Manhas and Sudershan Kumari Manhas (collectively the “Owners”), being the registered owners of the property with the civic address of 1105 Vancouver Street, Prince George BC and legally described as PID:  008-929-246, Lot 11 Block 208 District Lot 343 Cariboo District Plan 1268 and PID: 008-929-262, Lot 12 Block 208 District Lot 343 Cariboo District Plan 1268 (collectively the “Property”), immediately cease causing, or allowing to be caused, the following nuisance activities on the Property: 
      1. The discarding of waste and debris, including mattresses, garbage and cardboard outdoors;
      2. Yelling, shouting, screaming and fighting; and
      3. The lighting of outdoor fires.
    2. AND THAT Council DIRECTS that administration deliver to the Owners a copy of the written order regarding the Property together with a notice that if a nuisance activity prohibited by the order is abated or caused to be abated by the City under section 3.3 of the "City of Prince George Nuisance Abatement Bylaw 8940, 2018", then the cost of such abatement may be recovered from the Owners pursuant to sections 4.1 to 4.3 and Schedule “A” of that bylaw.

      1. The discarding and accumulation of garbage outdoors;
      2. Allowing dogs to run at large;
      3. Yelling, shouting, screaming and fighting; and
      4. The lighting of outdoor fires.
    2. AND THAT Council DIRECTS that administration deliver to the Owners, a  copy of the written order regarding the Property together with a notice that if a nuisance activity prohibited by the order is abated or caused to be abated by the City under section 3.3 of the "City of Prince George Nuisance Abatement Bylaw 8940, 2018", then the cost of such abatement may be recovered from the Owners pursuant to sections 4.1 to 4.3 and Schedule “A” of that bylaw.
